I’m the first to admit that I can’t function without a good cup of coffee first thing in the morning, but over the past few weeks, it’s been just too hot to enjoy a good steaming cup o’ Joe. What’s a girl to do? Simple – opt for a cold coffee drink instead.
Up until now, I simply saved some leftover coffee from the morning and used it to blend up an iced coffee as a quick cool pick-me-up in the afternoon. Since it’s gotten too hot to enjoy hot coffee in the morning, I’ve simply been brewing my coffee at night and then storing it in the fridge until morning.
When I get up, I simply blend it with a little ice and flavored coffee creamer for a frothy coffee shake. I love using a small blender called a “Magic Bullet” for this. It allows me to blend the coffee shake directly in a mug, but any blender you have sitting in your cabinet will do as well.
For a strong cup of iced Joe, pour some of the chilled coffee in ice cube trays and use those to blend your coffee creations. Add some different flavored creamers or even ice cream for a change in flavor and texture.
If you are feeling fancy, or just need something to put a smile on your face in the morning, keep some whipped cream around and add it to the top of your shake. To get even fancier add a touch of cinnamon or a drizzle of chocolate syrup on top of the whipped cream.
Speaking of chocolate syrup… You can add some milk and a drizzle of the syrup to your coffee creation for a chocolaty twist. Of course you can just as easily substitute caramel syrup. Just experiment with different flavor combination to come up with the perfect cold coffee creation for you.
Here are two cool coffee drink recipes that you’ll enjoy. The first is for an easy coffee shake, the other for a cool cappuccino shake. You can easily put these shakes together in minutes. Give them a try.
