Is Gourmet Coffee Only For the Rich?

Coffee is always a delicious treat to wake up to in the morning, and I would wager to bet that many people are not able to wake up without it. However, what type of Java do you enjoy in your cup of Joe? If you are a consumer of gourmet beans, it may be wise to know the price difference in your daily cup of Joe. A cup of regular Java will cost you about $ .75, versus the estimated five dollars per cup that a gourmet blend will run you.

One reason that this issue has been brought to light is due to the fact that it has been observed that university students were spending their student loan money on premium Java consumption. Obviously, student loans are given to cover costs of living, but advisers were questioning exactly what type of importance daily lattes have in student living needs. Daily Java consumption from large chains will run you around five dollars a day, which can definitely add up if you are a student trying to cut costs and pay off your loans. The truth of the matter is that you can stop going to these crowded coffee houses and save your daily latte money, only to be able to purchase a premium espresso machine that will allow you to do it yourself at an even lower cost.

The same truth bodes for those Java drinkers that prefer the gourmet variety, especially since purchasing gourmet Java in a public coffee house will run you a significant sum of money. If you start to brew your gourmet Java at home, then you are already saving greater amounts of money. Again, I have to touch upon the fact that saving this type of cash on a daily latte drink will allow you to purchase your own home espresso palace, which is far better than standing in line in Starbucks for up to 30 minutes before class or work.

One interesting thing to think about is the most expensive bean in the world, Kopi Luwak, which comes from the excrement of tree cats, can cost almost $ 200 per pound! There is a noted coffee shop in Australia which is said to be the only location in the world to serve this brew for $ 33 a cup. If you were to purchase this and brew it yourself at home, it would only be about two dollars per cup. What a huge difference! The point of the matter is that if you want to sample the most premium wares, then your best bet is to purchase them, grind them yourself, and drink them at home. This will be saving you an enormous amount of money in the long run, not to mention that you will be able to budget in purchasing your own home espresso maker or premium coffee maker.

Just think about the added benefit of being able to pay less for your gourmet Java and have it at the highest quality control possible – made by yours truly!
